Stained glass is generally divided into two main categories:  cathedrals and opalescents.  Cathedral glass, of which there are several sub-categories, is usually trasparent and transmits light very well.  Opalescent glass is more milky and semitranslucent.  Mixed opals are made by swirling one or more colors of molten glass together before the sheet is rolled.  Naturally, no two sheets are exactly alike!

The glass used to frame the 18th Psalm is an opalescent type stained glass by Spectrum, a company located in Washington State.
