What
is dichroic glass?
Dichroic
glass has a special coating that causes it to shimmer and shine.
When applied to clear glass, two colors are transmitted and reflected.
In other words, the color shifts when the glass is viewed from a different
angle. When applied to black glass, the transmitted color is absorbed
and only the reflected color is seen. Many think dichroic glass was
originally developed for the laser industry and then became widely popular
in many artistic applications. But in fact, dichroic glass was first
developed in the 4th Century AD by the Romans. |
